How to create a coin/token

On Minter it’s easy to create a coin or token quickly. The key difference between a coin and a token is that coins have a BIP reserve and tokens don’t. Therefore, coins have total liquidity right away with other coins, meanwhile tokens can only be traded through liquidity pools.

How to create a coin

  • No wallet?
  • Create one with Minter Console

If you don’t have a Minter wallet you’ll have to generate a seed phrase

Important: save the 12 word seed phrase somewhere secure, it’s the only way to access your money.

If you lose the seed phrase you will lose access to your wallet permanently without any way of recovery.

A secure place for your seed phrase would be a piece of paper, preferably several, or in an encrypted password database (1Password, Bitwarden, KeePass and other programs).

Screenshots and notes are NOT secure.

To enter your wallet you’ll have to type out your seed phrase and click Sign In.

    • Create Wallet — choose if you don’t have a wallet yet.

When creating a wallet you need to save your seed phrase somewhere secure, think of it as both the login and the password to your wallet.

If you lose the seed phrase you will lose access to your wallet permanently without any way of recovery.

A secure place for your seed phrase would be a piece of paper, preferably several, or in an encrypted password database (1Password, Bitwarden, KeePass and other programs).

Screenshots and phone notes are NOT secure.

After you’ve saved the seed phrase and tapped Activate Wallet, your newly created wallet will open, where you’ll see 3 sections:

    1. Wallets — management of your wallets and coins
    2. Send — coin transfers and a contact list.
    3. Settings — self-explanatory.

  • Go to the Coiner tab. Coin is chosen by default
image
  • Enter the name of your coin and the desired ticker
  • Set the initial emission of the coin and the amount of BIP in its reserve
  • After that enter the CRR (%) - simply put, the percentage of coins released that are supplied with BIP. The higher the percentage, the lower the volatility, making the price more stable. You can check how the chemistry between emission, reserve and CRR works at calculator.minter.network
  • If you want your coin to have an emission cap, give it one. If you leave this blank, the coin will have an infinite emission
image
  • Keep in mind that terminating the coin will be impossible. You can’t sell the coin if it makes its reserve go below 10 000 BIP.
  • You should also keep ticker length prices in mind:
    • 3 characters - BIP 2 500 000 (~$50 000)
    • 4 characters - BIP 500 000 (~$10 000)
    • 5 characters - BIP 100 000 (~$2 000)
    • 6 characters - BIP 20 000 (~$400)
    • 7-10 characters - BIP 5 000 (~$100)
  • After filling everything out, press Create, check the validity of all the entered data and confirm the transaction
  • Go to the Wallet section to see the coin creation transaction and the coin itself in its entire initial emission
